OUR CARVINGS
Vic Berg graduated from Lake Forest College in Illinois with a double major
in philosophy and
biology.
This academic basis is the foundation, which has enabled him to develop a
well-rounded artistic expression. Having won numerous awards for his gunning
stool duck and shorebird decoys in carving competitions on the East Coast has
further established his reputation. He is a featured artist in the books
“Waterfowl Heritage” by Neal Connolly and “Sporting Collectibles” by James
Karsnitz. He is noted for his unique keel-bottomed decoys.

Trained in the art of woodworking by his father, the late Vern Berg, Vic has
been carving since 1980. As a hunting and fishing guide, he spends
invaluable time afield yielding “hands on” experience in a coastal environment. Vic taught Ellen to carve in 1986. A former intensive care nurse, she
has adapted her acquired skills to aid in the organization of a successful
waterfowl and fishing guide service. She specializes in carving a wide
variety of shorebirds, songbirds, and miniatures. She has won awards for her
hinged shorebird rigs and assorted shorebirds in competitions throughout the
East Coast.
COMMISSIONED PIECES
Vic and Ellen are always happy to do custom orders and will work with you
designing and displaying a wide variety of carvings.

VIC'S LATEST SWAN
All of Vic's swans' bodies are carved from cedar logs, with the shape of the
log dictating the shape of the body, so there are no 2 the same. Painted
with an antique style crackle finish and a realistic bill. This swan is
sold.
